Creative projects were due today – the last day of class for the 2015 winter semester at the University of Windsor!
Needless to say, the day was filled with nervous excitement. I performed my first ever slam poem! Had it not been for this assignment (in a class called Speaking Truth to Power), it might never have happened.
It has been such a great experience to be able to exchange views and dialogue with these bright young people (of course there has been plenty of opportunity for debate given the nature of the course). So to my Speaking Truth to Power class, as well as to Professor Frances Cachon – I am better for having known you – thank you!
I will share my Spoken Word Art on another day (when my show returns from its hiatus), but in the mean time, I want to share with you one of my favourite of the class projects: a video submission by Erin Rose – she’s a third year Gender Studies student at the University of Windsor. In this video Erin shares what being a feminist means to her. This was so well done – with some cinematography help from Rocky Russo – enjoy!
